Abso­lu­te pre­cisi­on – The new genera­ti­on of moti­on mea­su­re­ment

Incli­no­me­ters are now stan­dard com­pon­ents in mobi­le app­li­ca­ti­ons. GEMAC, a long time spe­cia­list for incli­na­ti­on and iner­ti­al sen­sors, now laun­ches a new pro­duct fami­ly of high pre­cisi­on dyna­mic incli­na­ti­on sen­sors : the Iner­ti­al Mea­su­re­ment Sys­tem IMU+.

The new sys­tem enab­les 6‑axis moti­on detec­tion based on raw data acqui­si­ti­on for acce­le­ra­ti­on (3‑axis) and rota­ti­on rate (3‑axis). In the sen­sor, high-pre­cisi­on data pro­ces­sing car­ri­ed out using a sophisti­ca­ted sen­sor fusi­on algo­rithm. Inte­gra­ted sen­sor fusi­on fil­ters help in ori­en­ta­ti­on cal­cu­la­ti­on by sup­pres­sing extern­al­ly acting acce­le­ra­ti­ons. IMU+ offers the decisi­ve advan­ta­ge that, in addi­ti­on to the raw data for acce­le­ra­ti­on and rota­ti­on rate, it can also out­put intern­al­ly cal­cu­la­ted values such as tilt or rota­ti­on ang­le in dif­fe­rent axes. They are thus enab­ling it to detect and ana­ly­ze devia­ti­ons even fas­ter in the future.

The inter­nal com­bi­na­ti­on and cal­cu­la­ti­on of all mea­su­red values make it pos­si­ble to inte­gra­te one mea­su­ring sys­tem ins­tead of several. Also, both sta­tic and dyna­mic accu­ra­cy has signi­fi­cant­ly impro­ved once again com­pa­red to the exis­ting sen­sors.
